Selected Publications

Tiffen was an early blogger of the Iraq war, and wrote the war blog (archived here)The Replacements” during his first deployment to Iraq from 2005 to 2006 when he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader in Baghdad and Al Anbar Province.  The blog received considerable exposure and was featured on the front page of the Style Section of the Washington Post. Excerpts from the blog were published in the Sandbox for Slate magazine and were featured in The Sandbox Book, published in 2009.  


He continues to write on a wide range of subjects, including post-conflict reconstruction, U.S. foreign policy, national security, alternative energy, climate change, and veteran's affairs.
